FAQ's
Pricing & Charges

At Express Cargo, we make shipping simple and transparent. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from our customers.

How are freight charges calculated?

Freight pricing is based on factors such as origin and destination, service level, freight type, weight and cubic volume, and any special handling or access requirements. Charges may also be affected by metro zones and variable fuel rate where applicable.

How do I calculate cubic measurement?

Cubic volume is calculated using the freight dimensions (length × width × height). If you need help confirming cubic volume for quoting, provide dimensions and the team can assist. You can use the cubic calculator available on our website to quickly calculate cubic volume. If you’re unsure or need help, our Customer Services team can assist with cubic calculations and
ensure your freight is quoted accurately

What is Variable Fuel Rate (VFR)?

Fuel is a variable cost in transport, and fuel prices fluctuate regularly. Rather than constantly renegotiating freight rates, a Variable Fuel Rate (VFR) is applied to reflect changes in fuel costs.

The applicable VFR is applied at the time your service is ordered and may change from week to week in line with fuel pricing. This approach provides transparency while keeping freight rates stable.

Are there additional charges I should be aware of?

Additional charges may apply for residential or rural delivery, specialised lifting equipment, hand unload, or where access requirements increase time on site. These are outlined in relevant terms and are confirmed where applicable during quoting.
