FAQ's
Care & Insurance

At Express Cargo, we make shipping simple and transparent. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from our customers.

Is my freight insured while in transit?

Carrier liability and risk coverage can vary depending on the service and carrier used, and larger or higher-value movements may require separate marine insurance arrangements. If you have high value freight, tell us at quoting so we can discuss the best protection approach.

How should my freight be packaged?

To ensure your freight arrives safely and can be handled efficiently throughout the transport process, all goods must be packaged, protected, and secured to withstand normal transport conditions, including loading, unloading, warehouse handling and transit movements.

Palletised Freight: All palletised freight should be stacked securely on a pallet that is in good condition and capable of supporting the load. Freight must not overhang the pallet unless specifically approved. Goods should be secured using shrink wrap, strapping or a combination of these methods to prevent movement during transit. Each pallet must be clearly labelled with the consignee details, delivery address, and any handling instructions.

Chilled and Frozen Freight: Chilled and frozen freight must be presented on suitable pallets and packaged to maintain product integrity throughout transport. Maximum pallet weight and height restrictions may apply depending on the service and equipment used. Temperature requirements must be clearly communicated at the time of booking.

Cartons and Loose Freight: Cartons should be strong enough for stacking and handling and should be sealed securely.

If you are unsure about the packaging requirements for your freight, please contact our team before dispatch. We are happy to advise on the most suitable packaging method for your shipment.
