Aircraft Engine Transport
At Express Cargo, we make shipping simple and transparent. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from our customers.
Do you transport aircraft jet engines within New Zealand and what types of engines do you handle?
Yes. We regularly manage the movement of commercial aircraft engines throughout New Zealand, including V2500 engines, other Airbus and Boeing narrow-body and wide-body engines, as well as approved auxiliary power units (APUs) and major engine components.
Every movement is carefully planned based on the engine type, weight, dimensions, and specific handling requirements to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient transport throughout the supply chain.
How are jet engines transported domestically and how is engine safety ensured during transport?
Aircraft engines are typically transported by specialised road freight services using purpose-built stands, cradles, or airline-approved transport containers.
Because engine safety is critical, each movement is carefully planned and managed to minimise risk and protect against shock, vibration, and damage during transit. Transport is conducted via controlled routes suitable for high value and heavy cargo, with scheduling coordinated to meet engineering, regulatory, and time-critical operational requirements.
All engines are secured using approved lashing and restraint systems and transported in full compliance with aviation industry standards and transport safety regulations.
Can you manage customs and bonded movements?
Yes. We regularly coordinate:
• Customs-controlled domestic movements
• Transport of engines under import, export, or temporary admission arrangements
• Transfers between ports, airports, and maintenance facilities as part of a bonded supply chain
We work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers and service providers to ensure documentation aligns with the physical movement.
Can you support time-critical or AOG engine movements?
Yes. We understand that engine movements are often time-critical.
Where required, we can:
• Coordinate urgent or priority transport
• Align deliveries with maintenance slot windows
• Support AOG (Aircraft on Ground) recovery planning within New Zealand
• We offer standard Economy and Express Road services as well as Dedicated Full Truck Loads
Do you handle export movements for Freight Forwarders after servicing?
Yes. Once maintenance or overhaul is complete, we coordinate:
• Collection from the maintenance facility
• Delivery to the nominated airport or port
• Handover for export uplift
• Alignment with export documentation and cut-off times
This provides end-to-end continuity from import through to re-export.
