As the customer, your primary focus is manufacturing a product and distributing it. The freight broker’s core concern is moving those products from origin to destination and having it arrive to your customer in its desired condition. With the limited in-house resources, it can get very expensive for the shipper as well as time consuming to handle all the necessary work of setting up shipments directly with carriers. Customers must focus their attention on what matters most and that is their product therefore let Express Cargo handle the shipping of that product.

Express Cargo wants to make it easy for your business to move your consignments around New Zealand. We offer the traditional 3 part handwritten consignment note book, an electronic PDF connote that is emailed, over the phone if you prefer or the 21st Century way where our customers enter all the details directly into our Web portal.

Our Customer Service team take care of everything for you, they can be contacted via, free phone, mobile or email. All queries are updated within 30 min of being lodged with what action is being taken.

In our larger Metropolitan cities Auckland , Wellington, Christchurch these are all broken up into different Zones and deliveries into each zone are all priced based on the destination of Businesses, Kilometres and the time it takes to travel for the main CDB or business hubs of the city. This is needed due to the extra cost incurred.

Fuel is a demand priced commodity forcing the VFR surcharge to change constantly. The cost of fuel is a major variable cost in transport but you don’t want to be renegotiating your rates every time fuel prices change.

The total price you pay for freight service is made up of two components:

A Base Rate; and a Variable Price.

In order to calculate the total price, you pay, we add these two components together and then add GST.

Our base rate component is the price for our service set out in our Rates Schedule with you.

Our Variable Price component is calculated as a percentage of the applicable Base Rate. The percentage which we apply to the applicable Base Rate is called the Variable Fuel Rate (VFR). The VFR changes from month to month because it is linked to the changing cost of diesel. We use the VFR that applies on the date you order your service.

You can calculate the total price you pay according to the following formula:

Base Rate + (Base Rate x VFR%) = Total Price (excl GST)

For example, if the base price of your product or service was $100.00 and the VFR was 5%, then the total price you pay would be $105.00 calculated as follows:

Total price (excl GST) = $100.00 + ($100.00 x 5%) = $105.00

The short answer is NO. No more wasting time logging in to multiple sites and trying to work with different set ups. With Express Cargo you only have to log into our Portal and input your consignments by service and destination. We organise how this moves in the background, simple as that.

Sure do BUT only for our account holder B2C (Business to Customer). We don’t offer this service to the general public. Note some carrier charge an extra residential address delivery surcharge due to the extra time it takes to get to these addresses.
